About me

I was born in Tokyo.  When I was about 10 years old, I enjoyed reading a book by Maurice Leblanc, called “Arsene Lupin, Gentleman-Thief”.  The story is about a thief, Arsene Lupin, who steals jewelry and helps the poor by distributing the wealth.  I believe it was what inspired a desire in me, even at a young age, to be of service to others, and begin my path toward spirituality.

In my teens I had a troubled relationship with my mother, which made my life challenging.  My mother never had spiritual values in her life, whereas I had already started looking for my mine.

In 1977, while still in Tokyo, I met a yogic meditation teacher. He introduced me to meditation the very first day our paths crossed, and I finally felt my spiritual life really begin.  In 1979, I was inspired to travel to India and Nepal, staying 15 months. During my journey I attended spiritual meditation gatherings and visited many amazing places in both countries.

In my twenties, I taught Japanese to foreigners. I then married an Indian man and we had a daughter, but I was restless.  In search of more, I eventually moved to Sacramento with my daughter, where I studied the Steiner (Waldorf) education curriculum. It emphasized the arts, and I particularly liked water color painting and form drawing. I have continued my education, taking Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Training (RYT500) at Subtle Yoga in North Carolina, and courses in art therapy in Tokyo, at Tobias Art Therapy School near London and Sienna Academy in Australia.

In 2007, I moved to Yakushima Island, where I continue to have the pleasure of teaching the things about which I am most passionate; yoga, meditation, water color painting, form drawing and workshops and counseling with art therapy.

I also still have a love of traveling. I am a member of a yoga-meditation community that has an international network. In 2015, I attended yoga-meditation retreats in Bali and Taiwan.  In addition, I have also visited Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, France, Ireland, Sweden, Italy and Spain.

I believe that spirituality is essential to life.  Yogic meditation has transformed mine.  Through my meditation and teaching, I hope to help everybody on the earth lead more spiritual lives under the guidance of the cosmic force that fills and inspires us all.
